  1. I realized you mentioned Shosan not Shunryu Suzuki. I have never read Shosan. is there an author you would recommend? I have read and greatly cherish Shunryu’s writings.

    • Arthur Braverman has a translated collection of Shosan’s writings. You could start with him. There is another author Winston Lee King who wrote “Death was his kōan: the samurai-Zen of Suzuki Shōsan”. I have not read much of King, but I think it could be very good – the few pieces I have read I have enjoyed.
